Charted in 2005 and the Aktion club helps support integration into the community and gives the folks at Genesis an avenue to give back. They host a number of fundraisers and they take the funds raised to buy tangible goods to personally deliver to those in need. Boone Aktion Club members are adults with disabilities who want to be of service to people who need help. Boone Aktion Club meets on the second Thursday and the fourth Thursday of each month at the First United Methodist Church on Arden Street starting at 5:30 pm and adjourning at 6:30 pm. Attendees at the Boone Aktion Club meetings have usually included 12-15 members of the Aktion Club, 2 Kiwanis advisors, and 1-2 staff members of Boone Genesis Development. Aktion Club meetings are modeled after Kiwanis meetings starting with the Pledge of Allegiance and then an invocation by a Aktion Club member. Meetings usually include a round-table sharing of personal experiences followed by discussions and plans for future fund raisers and future projects. Fundraisers and service projects for the Boone Aktion Club are usually arranged for days and times other than the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
